How to Fundraise for RECOVERY
Get Involved
-
This page is full of ideas, links and suggestions to help you run an event to raise funds and awareness on mental health and RECOVERY.
-
First things first, you need to decide on your event. See below for ideas and inspiration.
-
Tell us what you’re up to, so we can add your event to our list of the 65 events on our website to encourage and inspire other people considering getting involved. Email us with details of your event at recovery4wellbeing@gmail.com.
-
Print a copy of the sign up sheet by clicking here for the download and encourage people at your event to sign up to receive the RECOVERY newsletter for more news on mental health in the charity and the Midlands.
-
Make sure you have Gift Aid cards available at your event (we will send you some with the rest of your fundrasing pack). If tax payers complete these when they make a donation we can claim back gift aid from the government, making every £1 given worth £1.25.
Some Ideas
-
Do something active! If you're feeling fit and up to the challenge why not organise a sponsored run, hill walk or bike ride. Whether it's the Leicester Half Marathon, Three Peaks Challenge, or Ride London we are more than happy to support you in your physical endeavour. We would love to hear from you if you are planning on participating in an event on our behalf or if you would like us to help you organise an event. In the meantime here's a link to download our sponsorship form if you want to make a headstart.
-
Do something tasty! We're always fond of having something to eat or cuppa and a natter about life. Why not organise a food and/or drink event geared towards encouraging coversations about mental health. Remember to make it as accessible as possible to those who haven't had direct or indirect experience of mental health problems. This helps to break down the stigma and discrimination associated with the issues by engaging those who might not have thought too much about it before.
-
Do something fun/entertaining! How about a fashion or variety show or a gig/concert. This may involve a lot of organisation but it can be very fun and a great achievement when it's a big success thanks to our support. In the past the charity has held a Race Night where punters could pace bets on pre-recorded horse races to win money at the Clarendon Pub, Leicester. This was a fantastic success and helped us raise a lot of money. Click here to see the poster from the night for more information. Or click here to see an example 'race card' and more info on how the nights work.
-
Get some support! Obviously RECOVERY will give you all the support we can possibly offer with anything you need but we also encouge members and supporters to get out in the community and garner a bit of support for themselves. In that respect here is a letter we have put together in order for people to approach local retailers/businesses to see if they will kidly take one of our collection tins in order to raise funds for us without even raising a finger. Click here for RECOVERY's collection tin letter.
What the Money Goes Towards
Just in case any of you generous, kind hearted fundraisers out there need reminding what your valuably raised funds go towards here's a little reminder:
-
RECOVERY is a local mental health charity aimed at improving wellbeing. We support people suffering from mental health problems as well as creating awareness about the stigma and discrimination experienced by survivors.
-
RECOVERY supports Survivors in the community to encourage each other to see ways around obstacles to wellbeing. We enable people to talk about their experiences with Mental Health. We offer Creative Therapy Sessions (TAW Therapeutic Art Workshop, Jewellery Making, Centering Therapy and Creative Writing) that can help heal memories.
-
RECOVERY Dogs for Mental Health helps survivors to recover their independence through lessening anxiety, fear, loneliness, panic attacks and improving social inclusion, exercise and wellbeing.
